Awkwafina, an American actor and singer, began with humorous raps that addressed sexual identities, racial identity and gender. Before expanding into Hollywood she came out with an album of rap songs. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her initial musical encounter. She was a trumpet player. In the following years, she took up studying classical music and hip hop.
