Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

The birth of Ava DuVernay took place on the 24th of August on the 24th of August, 1972 in Long Beach California. DuVernay was encouraged by her aunt Denise when she was an infant. Her aunt was an overnight nurse so that she could have an opportunity to study theatre or literature. DuVernay quickly fell in love when she showed her that 1959 West Side Story film. DuVernay was inspired by the summers she spent in Alabama to inspire her future film, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay was a graduate from Saint Joseph High School Lakewood California in 1990. In the year 1990 she completed her studies at Saint Joseph High school in Lakewood California. DuVernay started producing for the broadcast industry while she was in her the college. She started as an intern with CBS News, during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalled being assigned to watch the home of one member of the jury as well as go through their garbage. Her tasks to perform left her dissatisfied and so, after deciding not to continue in the field of journalism, she was able to move to the field of public relations. DuVernay started her career as a junior assistant to publicity in a tiny film studio following her graduation from the college. She founded The DuVernay Agency, her company for public relations in 1999. Alongside PR, her agency launched a number of marketing and lifestyle platforms, such as The Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective, Urban Eye and HelloBeautiful.
